Growing up in a native Hawaiian family on the windward side of Oahu, 'Ilima comes from a line of traditional healers, including her kupuna - her Tutu Lady, Kaliko Koko, and Uncle Henry Mitchell, a living legacy who continues to share his 'ike regarding the value and benefits of creating a pilina - or bond - between the traditional healing arts and contemporary, allopathic practices.
'Ilima honed her skills as a keiki (child), by observing her kupuna and was skillfully perfoming lomi lomi on family members by the time she was age of 8 years old. As she grew, 'Ilima spent much of her time in her tutu's garden, exploring the native flora and fauna, and enjoying many meals made from mango and banana picked from trees located on her family property.
Immersed in her culture and the desire to support her community, 'Ilima volunteers her time to support a wide variety of causes and is board member for several non-profit organizations, including programs providing food distribution, those supporting formerly incarcerated women, and also provides direct support services to those experiencing domestic violence, as well as survivors of trauma and grief.
'Ilima specializes in lomi lomi, trauma touch and myofascial release.
